One Room Challenge // Week Five

It’s week 5 of the One Room Challenge and this time next week, myself and a host of other guest participants will be sharing their big reveal! If you’re just jumping in and have no clue what the heck I’m talking about, the One Room Challenge is a six week design event hosted by Linda of Calling it Home and media sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens. It’s far from a competition and more about a supportive community of designers, bloggers and home enthusiasts pushing each other past the finish line of a room makeover.

I have to be honest with you. My room is done. Yup. It’s been photographed and I’ve even gotten my photos back. HOWEVER…. my closet is still not! Last week I shared with you that the original plan I had to install custom shelving just wasn’t going to work. I also ran out of wallpaper which had to be reordered which I literally picked up one day ago.

While browsing the aisles of Home Depot, I found a small closet unit that will serve the purpose of storing guest towels and sheets, but it just won’t give me the look and feel I was hoping for. If I go with the larger 30 inch unit, I’ll be able to store larger linens like extra comforters and pillows which is perfect. The downside, I’ll probably end up losing a lot of dead space beside the unit.

If I go with the 15 inch unit, I’d be able to store guest towels, which is still good, but I’d have to get creative with storing comforters. I still have a few days to decide but time is definitely ticking. I hoped to get this done in time to have it professionally photographed but life goes on, right?

So what do you guys think? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Go with the smaller unit that may not be as much an eye sore but not as practical, or go completely practical with the larger unit?
