One Room Challenge // Week Six Reveal

We made it! Before I go any further, I just want to give a BIG high five to all the designers and guest participants who participated in this event. I commend anyone who took on a full renovation in just six weeks! The community that rallies behind each other is amazing which truly makes me understand now why so many participants return round after round! And also a HUGE thank you to Linda Weinstein, creator of the One Room Challenge and media sponsor Better Homes and Gardens for continuing to provide this platform! Ok, so let’s get on to it! Girl when I tell you I had THE hardest time keeping the photos to myself… it was a definite struggle this week! Before I share the after, of course I think it’s helpful to show you the before.

Man oh man, what a difference a can of paint does to a room. I can’t even believe this is the same room!

The Details

I truly wanted this room to feel classic and clean yet warm and inviting. Sure, I could have hung pictures on the wall or layered in more accessories but I truly think there are so many statement pieces in this room that adding more would have diminished the feel I was going for which, was relaxed and calming.

I chose two statement pieces of artwork from Minted. Minted is one of those sites that I’ve always admired from afar. There are some truly talented artists out there and I knew my grown up guest room space could handle some really special artwork.

This guest room space is more than just a place for my guests to lay their head. I really truly thought about every detail and wanted it to be an extension of my family. All are welcome here and I always want my home to be a place of peace. This guest room embodies that to a ‘T’. The way the black paint mixes with the brown accents and all of the texture really makes this room so special and so warm. Just like a great big warm Southern hug! If you have never experienced one of those, you are truly missing out!

When I thought about the feel of the room, it was so important for me to think about the brands that exemplified the exact feeling I was going for. Pottery Barn, Birch Lane and Pier One were my main go to sources for this room. And I can’t forget about the statement headboard from Article which was the inspiration for the entire design!

The Closet

It’s no secret that the closet was a pain. If you caught my Instagram stories this week, I shared with you that we purchased the wrong color for the storage unit. But, with the deadline to finish quickly approaching, I knew we had to just go with it.

I wanted to utilize the closet space to provide everything my guests would ever need during their stay. You know what it’s like being away at someone’s home and you need a new towel or blanket but you don’t want to bother them. The closet space provides everything! From towels, blankets, iron and ironing board and pillow and room spray to ensure my guests are comfortable.

So guys, what do you think?! I feel like this room is a great representation of who I am. Minimal, quiet yet warm and welcoming.

I really can’t thank you enough for following along my very first ORC journey!! I’ve met some pretty amazing people along the way. I hope you’ll go and visit the other designers that have worked tirelessly and so hard to provide so much inspiration. You can check them out by visiting the One Room Challenge blog.
