Hello and Welcome to the Hello Fall Home Tour! I’m so excited to participate in this fall blog hop with some amazing ladies and it’s given me a good reason to switch up my decor.
If you followed along with my Fall Home Tour last year, you’ll remember I am not very big on traditional fall colors. I love neutrals and cool color palettes but this year has me yearning for a feeling of cozy and warm, complete with all the throw blankets and fall candles I can fit into one room.
Fall Home Tour: Living Room Update
Last year I decorated more areas of our home but this year I really wanted to use most of what I had. Because we’ve spent so much time in the family room and kitchen, I focused all of my fall decorating in the family room where we can really enjoy it.
If you remember my family room, I’ve had a cathedral mirror on my fireplace mantle for awhile. I really wanted to switch things up to give a new feeling in the room so that was the first thing to go… well, not really. It just got a new home.
I decided to move the mirror over the console and then move the gallery way to our foyer. When you’re thinking about how to style your home for the holidays, sometimes restyling a room is just as important as adding holiday decor. Restyling a room can give it a fresh new look and feeling after looking at the same decor for months. You’ll likely feel less tempted or inclined to fill up the room with seasonal decor.
Fall Console Table Styling
As I mentioned above, I really wanted to a cozy feeling in the room. Bringing the mirror over the the console table gave it a warmer vibe.
I added a few pumpkins by throwing them in a decorative terracotta bowl. Most of my pumpkins are pretty neutral so I love the texture the bowl adds. I also used two 3M hooks to have a place to showcase blankets in a non permanent way. I’m pretty sure once the spring rolls around again, I’ll be looking to dodge the throw blankets.
Fall Fireplace Mantle Styling
For the mantle, I wanted to keep it super simple. We’re not used to having decor on the coffee table because.. kids.. so I didn’t want the family room to feel overwhelming.
I added a little fall foliage a few more pumpkins and bought in more texture with the wood storage boxes and reactive vase.
Fall Coffee Table Styling
The coffee table and tv console were really tricky. We live with a certain someone that has sticky fingers. Anything within reach is not safe. I was scrolling through Instagram a week ago and came across a hack that uses mounting putty to keep decor in place and to deter little hands. If only I could remember the account name so I can give credit for it. Trust me when I say it’s worked so far.
I took from a few places around the house again and added my pumpkin and fall candle.
On the tv console, I typically keep baskets with the kid’s toys which stayed. Then I added my hand carved paulownia wood planter and filled it with this artificial goldenrod arrangement I found at Target.
If you’ve found yourself here from Sherry over at the Savvy Apron, I hope you’ll continue on the tour and visit Crissy over at First Day of Home next! Her home is full of all the fall feels. You won’t be disappointed!
So that’s it! Pretty simple, right?! Have you decorated for fall? If not, don’t be afraid to shop outside the seasonal decor aisles and get creative! Drop a comment down below, email me or tag me on Instagram @homeonpoplarcreek to share your looks!
Until next time,
