It’s slowly looking like Christmas here with the kids rooms decorated, the foyer tree set and now the kid’s playroom got a little holiday cheer! This year I really wanted the kids to feel special and add trees to the spaces they’re in most of the time. I’m so excited I had the chance to do just that with the help of Mohawk Home and join some amazing bloggers to share our homes for the holidays.
The kids spend a lot of their time in the playroom, especially when we do crafts so it’s so important for me to have a durable rug in the space. When I saw the Sahana Black and White Area Rug, I knew it was the one for the playroom.
I really loved the design on this rug because I think it looked great with the theme of the playroom. If you caught my Instagram stories over the weekend, the kids played around with dinosaur eggs made from clay. It was a complete mess and some of the clay made it’s way to our new rug. But after a quick vacuum, our rug looked like new!
Originally, I wanted to go with a rainbow tree but decided we would add some fun colors in a different way. We mixed some old with new and went with blue, white, silver and gold.
I also decided this would be a great way to add a few colorful DIY projects. For the table, I simply wrapped a sheet of construction paper around a plastic cup and hot glued large pom-poms onto the cup until it made a cone shape. This serves as my indestructible “centerpiece” for their work table.
I then found the cutest dinosaur ornaments while browsing the store but there were only four available. The boys love dinosaurs so I had to have them. Since I couldn’t find enough for the tree, I decided to use them to dress up my gift boxes. I added picture frame ornaments, which I felt would make a great gift for the boys. We can print out moments from this very interesting year to look back on next year.
Lastly, I felt like the walls needed some fun holiday cheer! I didn’t want to purchase new frames, but I had two 11 x 14 frames in the basement that weren’t being used. I created two quick and easy prints that are 8.5 x 11. To offset the size difference in my frames and prints, I used some fun wrapping paper from last year and made it my background for my prints.

I love the result so much! The kids even loved them as much as I did.
