Happy Monday Friends! Being home during the holiday break definitely meant a lot of opportunity to envision how I wanted to finish up our living room and begin plans for the dining room. Extended periods at home never end well for Jerome, but he should be used to it by now. As I reflect back over the progress we’ve made in our living room, I wanted to give you guys an update and let you in on our (my) future plans to finish out this space.
FIREPLACE TILE UPDATE
So our fireplace is definitely lacking a little pizzazz. The board and batten up the wall was a great decision, but the outdated tile around the fireplace takes away from the feature. I constantly go back and forth between a glass subway tile or a natural stone chevron tile. We’d also like to replace the floors one day and get rid of the hideous tile surrounding the fireplace on the floor.
Some tile options:
I love the chevron tile because the shape and direction of the tile is a nice contrast from the symmetry of the board and batten. However, subway tile is so clean and classic.
CHOOSING AN AREA RUG
An area rug and curtains can bring warmth into a room without looking too formal. The curtains I added over the break gave my living room the warmth I was looking for. Check out how I made this corner so comfy cozy by adding a DIY Blanket Ladder.
With the curtains finally in place, it’s time to pull the trigger on a rug. Area rugs are such a huge investment so I want to make sure I get something that we like and fits the style of the room. I have gone back and forth about the style. From traditional to geometric to natural. I think I’m finally settling on going with a natural fiber rug. What do you guys think? Here are my top choices:
I’d love to hear your thoughts! What do you guys think about some of my choices?
