Welcome back to week six of the Spring One Room Challenge. Last week, the world nearly changed before our eyes. It was a very emotional week which made it really tough to focus on much of anything. Linda, the creator of the One Room Challenge made the decision to cancel week five out of respect for the Black Lives Movement and to show solidarity for all those standing up to take a stand.

This week was emotionally taxing, it felt good to see most of the design open its eyes to the injustices of black men and women and give space to amplify our voices so we can be seen and heard.
While there’s still so much work to be done, I’m feeling more and more positive that change is coming.
WEEK SIX UPDATE
With everything aside, we did manage to get a things done. I managed to get the chalkboard painted while Jerome worked on painting the desk.

For the chalkboard we decided to prime it using Rustoleum’s magnetic primer. This would allow me to leave notes or for Jaden to use it to post his artwork. The jury is still out on whether it’s strong enough to hold anything just yet, but I’ll be sure to update you.

I found these cute little magnets at The Container Store which I’m excited to try out.

This week we also focused on getting the desk painted. This was a quick and easy transformation and I’m so happy with the results. I switched out the hardware for a gold square knob and gold back plate which looks great against the green.

I’ll also work on painting my striped design inside the niche this week.

So that’s it for this week! We’re headed straight for the finish line and two weeks from today we’ll be revealing our spaces. Please don’t forget to catch up on all of the Featured Designers and Guest Participants over on the ORC blog!
Until next time,
