Today I decided to do something a little different. I don’t typically share my client projects here but I would love to change that! You may know, majority of my projects fall into the e-design category. If you’re not familiar with e-design, it’s a virtual way of designing a space which is perfect for clients that are ok with getting a little more hands on.

Every now and then, however, I am able to take on a full design project where I’m able to manage the project from concept to installation.

My lovely clients for this space had a family room that they wanted to make feel a lot more warm and inviting. The room itself is a bit on the narrow side which created an odd layout for them. They had a very large window and walkout patio which brought in a ton of natural light, which was great for day time gathering.
When I first viewed the space, the number one glaring problem for me was the misuse of space. The television was placed on a very small wall with the seating not in an optimal position for viewing the tv. We had to change that!
before:
I decided to shift the direction of the room, moving the television to a larger wall where we could position the seating right in front. Because the goal was to create a warm space, I immediately presented the idea of an electric fireplace by building out a space for the insert. They LOVED the idea!
Next, we wanted to modernize the space by removing the ceiling tiles and painting the entire space with a fresh new color. It totally brightened up the room!

The furnishings I suggested for the space really helped bring in all the cozy feels while making it feel modern with it’s clean lines. The man of the house wanted a special lounge chair so we selected a small leather recliner that didn’t overwhelm the room. We had to be careful here because the size of most recliners could have easily taken up a ton of floorspace in this narrow room.

While I have yet to have the room professionally photographed, I’m so happy with how it turned out and even more happy that my clients spend a ton of time here. The best part is getting updates about how they are enjoying their new family room!

Until next time,
