Did someone say Week 2??? It’s so hard to fathom that we’re already in week 2 of the One Room Challenge. It seems like all of the days are blending together which means the next 7 weeks are going to fly by. If you’re just joining me, last week I shared my plans for transforming Jaden’s room of hodgepodge furniture and things to a more collected space fit for a 6 year old.
SPRING 2020 ONE ROOM CHALLENGE FEATURED DESIGNERS
Before I jump into what’s new this week, I want to say thank you for all of the support and good wishes this past week! It’s been so much fun getting to meet so many new friends! And if you haven’t had a chance yet, be sure to make your rounds and see what the Featured Designers are up to. There’s so much eye candy!
SPRING ORC WEEK TWO
This week I’ve been trying to hash out all of the details so I can get my orders in as quickly as possible. My indecisiveness is getting the best of me but I’m determined to have it all figured out by the end of the week. Here’s a reminder of my plans:
So far I’m on par with everything in my original plans except for the lighting and desk. Originally I planned for this 12 Light Illuminated Burst Chandelier from Shades of Light, but after spending more time in the space with the new wall color, I decided to go with the smaller version. I love the way the arms of the 12 light are much longer and not as uniform but I’m afraid the size may overpower the room. The smaller version is a little more uniform so who knows… I may change my mind once again!
The second change I made was my choice in desk. I decided the area between the windows will need a pop of color to break up the blues. I was inspired when I came across this emerald green desk and knew this would be the perfect color.
I will be giving this cute little folding desk a makeover by spray painting it emerald green, switching the hardware to a gold knob and then adding a fun design into the nooks. What I love most about this folding desk is that we can easily fold it up and store it in the closet when the boys are playing. I also chose a clear acrylic chair to reduce the visual space in the room.
NEW DESK PLANS
As far as projects go, we were able to get the paint done in one day! Let me say that again… ONE DAY! It usually takes about a week for me to get one room painted but Jerome and I tag teamed and got it done. Excuse the unmade bed. I snapped a pic while Jaden was having a little “quiet” time.
I’m so happy with the color and finish. Well, more like obsessed. We went with Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore which made the walls look like velvet. The paint has gotten everyone excited including Jaden.
My fabric arrived this week so after we got the paint done, we moved on to the cornices since that was the only thing we were able to start.
WINDOW CORNICE FABRIC
Jerome worked on building the cornice boxes so I can do the finishing. We won’t be putting them up just yet though. We’ll wait until getting the crown moulding up first.
Next week when you come back, I should have my wallpaper and crown moulding up. I’m saying it here to hold myself accountable. Then we can move on to doing whatever it is we’ll do to the closet doors. Still haven’t figured that part out yet. Yikes!
